The HP Mini 2140 is a 10 inch netbook running on the Windows XP home operating system. It is faster and cheaper than its predecessor the 2133.
Design and Build
The HP Mini 2140 has an all-aluminum casing. Build quality is good. Thanks to the metal casing, it is a bit heavier than the average netbooks.
Keyboard and trackpad
The keyboard is nearly full-sized. This is a definite plus on a netbook. The trackpad sports an unconventional design: its buttons are placed on either side. Users may take some time to get used to this adjustment.
Performance and Features
The 2140 with its Intel Atom processor is faster than its predecessor the 2133 which sported a VIA processor. Another feature that makes this machine snappier is the use of Windows XP instead of the more demanding Vista.
Port selection is good for a device of this size. There are 3 USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, line-in/out, VGA, memory card reader and an Express Card slot. The 6-cell battery gives up to 7 hours of battery life.
Conclusion
The 2140 is good for everything a netbook is intended for - web browsing, office work and watching videos. It is indeed one of the best netbooks available in the market. Highly recommended.
