HP PAVILION HDX REVIEW

The HP Pavilion HDX ("The Dragon") marked the launch of the most massive notebook ever seen. The update for the HDX is the all new 20.1" widescreen multimedia notebook. Will the mad rush for the HDX continue? Let’s bump-in and reveal it.

Design
The New HDX shares a lot of design qualities from its predecessors. Still Hp has done enough to differentiate this new creation with the following. It has improved their glossy black and silver "Imprint" finish with an all new high-impact version called "Dragon."

The real stand out design characteristics on the HDX is the dual-hinge display; it enables one to have steeper viewing angles of the screen. The HDX weighs 15.5 pounds, But compared to the Dell XPS M2010 that weigh around 20pounds and considering the fact that it has a 20inch screen, The package sounds reasonable.

Performance
HDX is promoted with the Intel Penryn processors and graphics through a dedicated Nvidia 8800M GTS graphics. Blu-ray optical drive, integrated HDTV tuner, dual hard drives and integrated web-camera; this massive beast is all busy redefining the term "notebook."

The 20.1" high definition display on the HDX is quiet impressive with virtually zero light leakage around the edges. The built-in webcam with a 1.3-megapixel webcam is a commoner in the laptops nowadays. The speakers are a real boom to this HDX, It sounds with an ultimate manly voice, Making the HDX a true High definition hit.

Bigger screen ensure loads of space for the full size keyboard to be comfortably perched. The armrest is quiet spacious too.

The HDX is a cool guy, with the heat dissipation happening really fast. The fan is ON most of the time even when the notebook is turned ON and while the notebook was gaming on battery power.

The HDX is available with a standard 9-cell battery that is flush mounted against the bottom of the notebook. Even though battery life was not as impressive as we expect from modern laptops, the HDX is still capable of doing the sprint on battery power for short trips.

Overall
The Penryn and Nvidia updates mark the arrival of the new generation HDX. With the loaded entertainment on stock, this beast is here to stay. But lifting this 20” might mean a television look like at times; with the quality it produces it’s worth it. Overall a multimedia option on the move.
